Jordan
A Hub for Refugees and Vulnerable Communities
Amman, Jordan, has become a key refuge for people displaced by conflict, particularly from neighboring Syria and Iraq. Jordan is home to over 1.3 million Syrian refugees, many of whom live in dire conditions in both urban areas and camps. The country’s infrastructure is under immense strain, with a growing need for food, healthcare, education, and shelter. As the refugee crisis intensifies, Christian communities in Jordan also face unique challenges, as religious minorities often experience economic hardship and limited access to opportunities. Additionally, many refugees, especially Christians, live in constant fear of persecution, both from extremist groups and social pressures.
2025 Initiatives:
- Community Kitchen and Empowering Christian Women (June 2025 - Present): We prepared a kitchen in Amman to host cooking sessions for around 50 Christian women from Iraq, enabling them to gain skills and start working from home to support their families after living in poverty since ISIS invaded their villages. Unfortunately, 75% of the Christians who migrated to Amman and Lebanon were unable to secure visas to any Western countries, and they could not return home due to the widespread destruction of their houses and entire villages.
- Medical Support for Christian Iraqi Refugees in Amman (October 2025): The TBP team in Amman covered the costs of hundreds of medications for around 75 Christian Iraqis who fled their villages after ISIS invaded and destroyed their homes. Many of these families had been left without support from the government, UNHCR, or other organizations. In collaboration with the Syriac Orthodox Church in Amman, the TBP team provided ongoing assistance to help these families maintain hope and faith as they awaited brighter days.
