Egypt

A Nation Striving for Stability and Opportunity

Egypt is navigating a complex humanitarian landscape marked by economic hardship and a significant influx of displaced populations. As of early 2025, Egypt hosts over 890,000 registered refugees and asylum-seekers, the highest number in its history. This includes more than 672,000 Sudanese and over 147,000 Syrians, with the recent Sudanese conflict alone prompting 338,374 individuals to seek refuge in Egypt. The nation's economy faces mounting pressures, with over 30% of Egyptians living below the poverty line and youth unemployment around 25%. Rural communities, in particular, struggle with outdated agricultural practices and limited access to education and vocational training, perpetuating cycles of poverty and instability.

2025 Initiatives

  • Wheat Farm (January 2025 - July 2025): Our team planted five acres of wheat, tended with care by local farmers. We then harvested the mature fields, carefully threshing and packing the wheat into large sacks, ready for the next step. Then, in July, our team distributed the packed wheat to around 2,000 Christian villagers who face daily persecution and economic hardship.
  • Medical Training (June 2025): Our team stepped in to train local women and elders on essential first aid skills and to monitor blood pressure, test for diabetes, and respond to heart attacks. We distributed 25 BP monitors and 50 glucose testers.
  • Education Support (September 2025 - Present): In the remote Egyptian town of Durunka Monastery, our TBP team is helping Christian students and their families remain rooted in their homeland despite growing extremism that forces many to consider migration. Through our support, around 150 students received schoolbooks, bags, and supplies for the entire academic year.
