Lebanon: Community Bakery to Support Vulnerable Christians

In South Lebanon, Christian communities have endured immense loss following widespread destruction that left many families without homes, vehicles, or reliable sources of income. For countless households, the damage was not only physical, it has stripped away stability, security, and the ability to provide daily necessities for their families. Over 80% of Lebanon’s population now lives below the poverty line, a near-unprecedented economic collapse. Because of this More than 3 million Lebanese are food insecure, unable to afford basic necessities.

In response, our team has stepped in to serve and support these vulnerable communities through multiple relief and recovery initiatives. One of the most recent and impactful of these efforts is the establishment of a community bakery, designed to meet both immediate needs and long-term recovery goals.

This bakery will operate to provide jobs and affordable baked goods, ensuring that families have consistent access to affordable food while the community works toward rebuilding self-sufficiency. The project creates employment opportunities for 15 families, directly supporting nearly 75 Christians through stable income and dignified work.

Beyond employment, the bakery serves as a lifeline for the wider community. Each month, it supports approximately 2,500 Christians by providing essential food items, including bread, manakish, dough, pizza dough, cakes, and meals for children, at half the market price or less. This affordability is critical for families who have lost nearly everything and are striving to meet basic needs.

Over the six-month period, this initiative is expected to support more than 15,000 Christians, easing the burden of daily survival while fostering resilience and dignity. By combining job creation with accessible food, the bakery empowers families to remain rooted in their communities and begin rebuilding their lives.

This project is more than a bakery, it is a symbol of hope, restoration, and faith in action. Through sustainable, community-centered solutions, The Blessing Projects continues to stand alongside persecuted and displaced Christians, helping them move from crisis toward recovery and long-term stability.
