For decades, Iraq’s Christian community has faced unimaginable challenges. Once numbering around three million, the community has dwindled to less than 350,000 due to years of conflict, persecution, and instability. Many families have been forced to leave their homes, and those who remain struggle daily to provide for their children and maintain a sense of normalcy.
The Blessing Projects team in Baghdad is committed to helping these families stay in their homeland and thrive. Building on the success of our previous school reconstruction project in Northern Iraq, we have launched a new education initiative aimed at empowering Christian families in Baghdad.
Our first step is a project that has provided 65 children with essential school supplies, including books and stationery. In addition, we are investing in the future of education by training three teachers through a program led by a highly educated professor from Amman. This training will equip educators with the tools and knowledge they need to give children a high-quality education despite the challenges of their environment.
Many of us, especially in the United States, take school for granted, but education to many around the world is more than just learning, it is hope, stability, and a chance for these children to envision a future in their homeland. By supporting both students and teachers, TBP is helping Christian families remain in Baghdad and build a sustainable path forward for the next generation.
We are honored to walk alongside these families, providing resources, guidance, and encouragement as they persevere. Every child educated, every teacher trained, and every family supported is a step toward preserving the rich Christian heritage of Iraq.
