Egypt: Standing Firm in Durunka — Giving Christian Students Roots

In the remote town of Durunka Monastery in Central Egypt, Christian families face hardships few of us can imagine. Rising extremism, social pressure, and economic struggles all combine to fracture lives and push many toward migration as their only perceived hope. Yet here, in this sacred land, The Blessing Projects is helping students and their families to stay, to root themselves where God has placed them, rather than abandon their heritage.

Durunka is poor and isolated. Resources are scarce, and for Christian families, the challenges are compounded. Many parents feel they have no choice but to look abroad for safety and opportunity, even if it means leaving behind their church, their traditions, and the community that has sustained them for generations. Without outside support, education becomes unaffordable, and children risk losing both learning and hope.

This year, our team on the ground provided 150 students with the schoolbooks, backpacks, and supplies they need for the entire academic year. These simple resources relieve families of a heavy burden and allow children to walk confidently into the classroom, prepared to learn. A backpack filled with sharpened pencils and notebooks is more than just a gift, it is a lifeline. It tells a child: you are not forgotten, you belong, and you have a future here.

In a place where pressure to leave is constant, each small act of support strengthens the possibility of staying. Families are encouraged, children are motivated, and the community as a whole takes one step closer to stability.

We are deeply grateful for the prayers and generosity that make projects like Durunka possible. Please continue to stand with us as we help Christian families not only survive these trials but remain rooted in their homeland with dignity and hope.
