Armenia: Sewing Hope for Widowed and Vulnerable Women

In the heart of Armenia, nestled within a community scarred by war and displacement, a quiet but powerful restoration has taken place. Our team recently completed the renovation of a historic church and community hall belonging to the Armenian Assyrian Christians—one of the oldest Christian communities in the world.

This church was more than just a place of worship. It was a cornerstone of identity, unity, and strength for a people who have endured generations of hardship. When it was damaged in the recent conflict in Karabakh, hope felt far away. But today, the bells ring again, and the doors are open—not only to worship, but to rebuild lives.

A New Chapter: The Sewing Factory

While the church renovation brought spiritual and communal restoration, an even more practical and life-changing development unfolded just down the hall: the opening of a sewing factory that now empowers 30 women—most of whom are widows.

These women, who have lost so much, now step into a new chapter where they are providers and creators. With training, equipment, and materials provided through your support, they are producing garments and textile goods that will be sold in local and regional markets. The income they earn doesn’t just sustain their households—it restores their dignity and gives them a future to build.

But the impact doesn’t stop there. These 30 women support extended families that include approximately 150 people—mostly children and the elderly. This means food on the table, school supplies in backpacks, and warmth through the winter. It means hope.

Why It Matters

In areas still reeling from war and instability, economic opportunity is rare—especially for widowed women. Our investment in the Armenian Assyrian sewing factory goes beyond charity. It’s a statement: that every person, regardless of their past or loss, has worth, purpose, and potential.

We believe in holistic restoration—spiritual, communal, and economic. By restoring a church and launching a factory, we are helping this ancient Christian community stand strong once again, rooted in faith and sustained by work.

Thank you for standing with us. When you give, when you pray, when you share—this is the kind of change you make possible.
